The Latest Male Fashionista

I went ahead and purchased this latest male Fashionista at the TRU price a couple of weeks ago because they only had 2 of them in the store.  This week I purchased another one because they became available at Walmart.  Here he is in a side by side view with one of my other male Fashionistas.

Below is a picture of him absent the pink lip gloss.  I always remove the painted lips of all my male dolls.

I prefer added facial hair over painted on pastel colors to define the lips of my male dolls.

I like him better without the lip gloss.

Happy Native American Heritage Month

Hope I'm getting a few viewers since I just recently started posting again. I'm just beginning to reacquaint myself on the use of Blogger so there may be a few problems due to "operator error." Please bear with me and any comments would be greatly appreciated!

During my lunch break today I made a stop at one of my favorites Thrift Stores in Pasadena Texas.  I purchased this doll and have been trying to figure out who he is.

After checking the back I learned that it was not produced by Mattel.

He's approximately 12 inches tall, twist & turn, click bend at the knees with wired bendable arms (I'm dating myself by saying like the old Tuttie & Todd dolls).

He came with an attached headband and feather.  He has extremely thick hair.

Does anyone recognize this Face, let me know if you do!

Thanks for viewing.

Re-Bodied "The Wanted" Celebrity Dolls

This summer I discovered and purchased two new dolls online at Walmart.com.  They are Max and Silva, of “The Wanted Group” produced by Vivid.   I love the unique facial molding that celebrity dolls usually have.  In my opinion, these guys have extremely well sculpted faces.

Here are some shots just so you can get an idea of their height in comparison to Ken and a regular sized fashionista.   Kinda short, eh?

As you can see, both these guys are about the same height as the regular size fashionista.

These two dudes will be used as my donors.

I’d like to add to their height and also have them articulated so that's why I chose these dolls.  Both these doll have the type of necks that will accept the new heads.  To give you an idea of his new height..........  He's now head and shoulders over his previous height (no pun intended LOL.

As you've noticed, the complexions are slightly off so I will blend a few acrylic paints in order match the body to the face.

Lesson learned, I should have primed these dolls with a base coat of Matte Acrylic sealer before I started.  I just painted the upper body and will paint their legs at a later date starting with the primer of course.  Couldn't let Max be the only one with facial hair!

Here they both are looking quite debonair after being redressed.

Teen Wolf Makeover

I had been on the fence about purchasing Claude because I’m not a fan of Monster High dolls. Walmart helped me change my mind when they put him on sale.  Who can resist a doll on sale!  I collect African American Dolls and action figures.  Male dolls of any race are scarce, African American, even more so.  Even though I'm not fond of over sized heads, I'll make an exception in this case.

I'll remove his lip gloss and fangs then file down his claws.

I’ll remove his wolf ears and cut holes for his replacement “human” ones.

My donor doll is from Walmart’s Sparkle Girlz brand.  I used this doll’s body for a swap and plan on using her beautiful thick hair as a wig.  In the meantime, I’ll remover her ears for ole Wolf Boy.  Kinda gruesome eh?

I removed his flocking and patched the holes with plastic used from a Dollar Store doll.

Then his “human” ears were applied using E-6000 glue.

Had to break out the Dremal again and smooth out the patch work done on his head.

Here he is after being flocked.  I like his serious expression, now, if only his head was a “little bit” smaller.  LOL

Makeovers for T.J. and Dawayne

I was lucky enough to find both of these Fashion Madness dolls on sale last year for $5 at TJ Maxx. They are T.J. and Dwayne produced by Kenya’s World, LLC.  Since I already had both models in my collection, I decided to customize the  new dolls.

I started off by removing the white line between their lips then added facial hair.

Here are the final results before and after pictures.  I like these guys much better without the toothy grin.

Thanks for looking!

A Makeover for Ryan

I purchased this Ryan Fashionista last year just for makeover purposes.   I removed his molded hair because I wanted to flock his head.  His head is patched with plastic cut from one of those hollow Dollar Store doll’s leg  (inadvertently left in the background LOL) then adhered it with E-6000. Rubber bands were used to hold it in place until the glue dried.  Then I used a Dermal to smooth out the edges before painting it.  After blending a few acrylic paints, I came up with a color that matched the flocking used to cover his head.

Kind of like ole Frankenstein, eh??

Since I ran out of flocking I made my own flocking fibers for his head and facial hair.

Sweet Deal on Model No. 17

Lucked up and purchased this poor ole guy from E-bay for only $9.  He was inexpensive because he had been stripped of his hair.  Nowadays Model 17s are rare at any price point so I jumped on him in a hurry!  This is how he was dress when he arrived.  Poor lil ole ragamuffin!

Don't you all wish that this doll or some variation of him could be released again!

Here he is with another Model 17.  I made his locs by twisting a very course grade of Kanekalon hair and running it through a flat iron set on medium heat to bind it.  You can use the pre-made locs as well but you may have to split them first.  The packs of hair can purchased from any local Beauty Supply store.  It’s usually very inexpensive (less than $5) and a pack will last a long time if you’re using it for your dolls.

He’s pictured here with some more project guys that are in process.

And again here paired up with one of my gals.
